01 — Dive Into the Idea
It starts with a conversation.
Tell us what you love, what you definitely don’t want and how you’d like the space to feel. We’ll look at your pool area, wall surfaces, dimensions, surroundings and inspiration to start developing a creative direction that’s completely your own.

02 — Design & Approval
Once we’ve landed on a direction, we develop the artwork and create digital mock-ups to help you visualise how the finished mural will work within your pool area.
Colours, composition, scale and placement can be refined before painting begins, giving you confidence in the creative direction before it hits the wall.
Nothing gets painted until you’re happy with the plan.
03 — Bring the Wall to Life
Once the design is locked in, Dan Krause (Drule Art) gets to work transforming the space.
Using professional-grade materials alongside spray and traditional artistic techniques, the mural is carefully built up layer by layer — from the larger forms and colours through to the details that bring the finished artwork together.
We work with the existing environment rather than against it, creating artwork designed to complement your pool, landscaping and outdoor entertaining area.
04 — Finish & Protect
Made for Life Outdoors.
Once the artwork is complete, we add the finishing touches and, where appropriate, apply protective coatings suited to the surface and outdoor environment.
Consideration is given to exposure to sun, weather and the conditions around a pool area, helping your mural retain its colour and impact for as long as possible.
We’ll also provide advice on looking after your artwork and any future maintenance that may help keep it looking its best.

Can you paint a mural around an outdoor swimming pool?
Absolutely. Pool surrounds can be fantastic locations for murals. The suitability of the wall and its condition will be assessed before work begins so we can determine the appropriate preparation, materials and painting approach for the environment.
What surfaces can a pool mural be painted on?
Murals can potentially be created on rendered walls, concrete, masonry, brick and various other prepared exterior surfaces. Every surface is different, so we'll assess what you're working with before recommending the best approach.

Will my pool mural fade in the Australian sun?
Any exterior artwork is exposed to UV, heat and weather over time. We use quality materials suited to outdoor applications and can apply appropriate protective finishes where required to help maximise the life and colour of the artwork.
The amount of direct sunlight, orientation of the wall, surface condition and surrounding environment can all influence longevity.
Are pool murals waterproof?
We prefer to describe our poolside murals as outdoor murals designed for exterior conditions, rather than simply calling them waterproof.
The appropriate preparation, paint system and protective finish will depend on where the artwork is located and how much exposure it receives to water, weather and direct sunlight.
Can you paint inside the swimming pool?
Painting a wall beside or surrounding a pool is different from painting a permanently submerged surface.
If you're considering artwork inside the actual pool or below the waterline, talk to us first. These applications require specialist coatings and preparation, and we'll need to determine whether the project and surface are suitable.
Can you create a design to match my landscaping and home?
Yes — that's one of the biggest advantages of commissioning original artwork.
We can consider your home's architecture, pool colour, landscaping, outdoor furniture and existing colour palette when developing the concept so the mural feels connected to the overall space.
What kind of pool mural can you create?
Pretty much where your imagination takes us.
Tropical landscapes, underwater worlds, botanical artwork, beach scenes, animals, abstract designs, street art, geometric artwork, characters and contemporary illustrations are all possibilities.

Can I provide my own pool mural idea?
Definitely.
Send through reference images, colours, styles or ideas you love and we'll use them to understand the direction you're after. Rather than simply copying someone else's artwork, we'll develop an original concept for your space.
What if I don't know what I want painted?
That's completely fine.
Send us some photos of your pool area and tell us a little about the atmosphere you're trying to create. Dan can help develop the artistic direction and suggest ideas that suit the wall and surrounding space.

Can you show me what the mural will look like first?
Yes. As part of the design process, we can develop concepts and digital mock-ups that help you visualise the scale, placement, colours and overall direction before painting begins.
Can you paint while the pool is still full?
Often the pool itself won't need to be emptied for artwork on surrounding walls, but access and protection requirements vary from project to project.
We'll assess the area beforehand and determine what's required to safely access the wall and protect the surrounding pool area while we work.
How much does a custom pool mural cost?
There isn't a standard price per mural because every project is different.
Cost is influenced by the size and condition of the surface, complexity of the artwork, preparation required, access, location and materials.
The easiest way to get started is to send us a photo, approximate dimensions and your location. We can then get a much better understanding of your project.
How do I maintain my outdoor mural?
Pool murals generally don't require complicated maintenance, but keeping the surrounding area clean and addressing any issues with the underlying wall can help protect the artwork.
Depending on exposure and the materials used, protective coatings may also be refreshed in the future. We'll provide relevant care advice for your particular mural once the project is complete.
Do you only create pool murals in Brisbane?
No. Street Art Concepts is Brisbane based but creates murals throughout Australia.
